What is rawdogging?
A word that started as crude slang, got adopted by the internet, and now mostly means doing anything with zero protection, preparation, or assistance. A field guide, kept PG.
The original meaning
The OG usage is slang for going unprotected in the bedroom — no barrier, no plan, pure optimism. We'll keep this page family-filter friendly and leave it at that, except to note the obvious: it's exactly the behavior our app exists to make less blind. More on that below.
The meme era: rawdogging flights
Around 2024 the internet generalized the word. "Rawdogging a flight" became the badge of the man who boards a 9-hour long-haul and consumes nothing — no movie, no music, no book, no water — just the seat-back map and his own thoughts. From there it spread to everything done without the normal comforts or preparation: rawdogging a Monday (no coffee), rawdogging a road trip (no GPS), rawdogging a presentation (no slides). The common thread is always the same: doing something with no protection or assistance that most people would consider essential.
Why an app is named after it
Because the OG kind of rawdogging has a statistic attached, and most people who take the risk are doing it with zero information — the life equivalent of the no-water long-haul. RAWDOGGER is a cycle calendar for men: enter her period start date and see the danger week painted red on the month. It doesn't lower the risk — calendar awareness is not contraception, and we say so in large letters — it just replaces total blindness with honest odds. Motto: rawdog responsibly. If you're going to fly with no movie, at least check the weather.
